MK3D

SL-1200MK3D1997 (Japan)

The MK3 without the click at 0% pitch, plus a reset button, a recessed power switch and a headshell stand.

ADescription

The Japan-market update of the MK3. The pitch fader's center click is gone, with a reset button beside it, the power switch is recessed so a stray hand can't kill the deck, the dust cover lifts off with no hinges, and a stand holds a spare headshell. 100 V only, factory gold RCAs. Silver brought back the MK2 look; black joined in 2000.

Changes from predecessor: vs MK3: no center detent, pitch reset button, recessed power switch, hinge-free dust cover, spare-headshell stand, silver finish returns.

BNotes

01
Removing the 0% click answered a real complaint: on a detented fader, riding pitch through zero jumps the speed exactly where you need precision.[1] Wikipedia [2] Save The Vinyl [3] Audio Heritage (JP), SL-1200MK3D
02
Mechanically it is the export M3D. What differs is the market: the MK3D runs on 100 V only with fixed gold RCAs, and one model number covers both colors, where export split them into the silver 1200M3D and black 1210M3D. A US buyer needs a step-up transformer or a voltage conversion.[1] Wikipedia [2] Audio Heritage (JP), SL-1200MK3D [3] SL-1200 series wiki (JP)
